The Shape of Freedom, a Semiquincentennial tribute, was created in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The bald eagle has always represented strength, freedom, and possibility. As we celebrate 250 years of our nation—I wanted to create something worthy of that story.
I knew I wanted the bald eagle featured, but I was almost 20 hours into this painting when my vision finally came to life. I added red and white stripes to one side and knew this was my finishing statement. This unique painting holds the traditional red, white and blue of our flag on either side of the painting. These edges spill slightly into the front of the painting to create a flag effect on both sides, wrapping the bald eagles. The top edge is painted blue and the bottom edge is painted red to stay true to our flag. There’s are also 50 stars on each side.
This is the type of piece that gets passed down for generations, and there is only one available.
