1973 | Original Painting

$12,000.00

Medium: Acrylic on canvas

Canvas type: 1.5" gallery stretched canvas

Size: 40” wide x 60” high

This painting, appropriately named 1973, depicts the iconic win photo of Secretariat as he claimed the first leg of the triple crown that year. Secretariat can be seen in the forefront stretching over the finish line at Churchill downs as he captures his win at the Kentucky Derby. In the background of the painting you will see a collection of old program pages and betting slips from years passed. My collection “Crowned” consists of real program pages from the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont Stakes from each of the years that the triple crown was won. If you look through the background pages you will see names such as Justify, Affirmed, Seattle Slew, and other triple crown winners. Mixed in with the official triple crown programs are additional pages from some of our most well known tracks, local to me, like Saratoga.

This painting can be seen in person at the 1827 Lounge in grist.

**** Framing available for additional cost
