Primitive - Artist Statement

“Primitive” is one of my newer collections and was created as a more minimalistic version of my Herd collection. Some of my earlier paintings take on almost a cave drawing appearance, and I wanted to explore that a bit in a new series. Each of these paintings were done in oil and embody a different animal. Some animals I am familiar with, like horses and buffalo, but adding in new subjects like rabbits and moose. This series acts as a less complex Herd collection and I love the minimalistic nature of each of these paintings.
